For over thirty years, Outreach Mission Inc. (OMI) has served as a safe haven for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community. As an emergency shelter, OMI provides more than just a place to sleep—we offer an opportunity for people to regroup, recover, and rebuild their lives.
Each person who walks through our doors is met with compassion, dignity, and support, regardless of their background or circumstances. Many of our residents are navigating difficult challenges such as job loss, housing instability, or recovery from addiction. Here at OMI, they find the resources and encouragement they need to take meaningful steps toward a brighter future.
Volunteers are the backbone of our mission. When you give your time to OMI, you become a vital part of someone’s journey from crisis to stability. Whether it’s preparing meals, helping with shelter upkeep, offering professional services, or simply being present to listen—your involvement makes a real difference.

Volunteers can help by preparing breakfast or dinner for shelter residents. You can also support our mission by donating nonperishable food items to help keep our pantry stocked.
We’re always in need of skilled volunteers to help with repairs, painting, electrical work, plumbing, yard work, and general cleaning and maintenance tasks around the shelters.
Time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give. We welcome dedicated volunteers who are willing to collaborate with our board and staff to help Outreach Mission thrive.

All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
We regularly need the following essentials to care for our residents:
Toiletry items (soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, etc.)
Twin-size bedding and pillows
Household cleaning supplies
Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, tissues)

Both are located on Wicker Street in Sanford.
We work with these community partners to provide vouchers for our clients. These vouchers allow individuals entering or exiting the shelter to select the clothing or household essentials they need—empowering them with choice and dignity as they rebuild their lives.
